Hundreds of family members and friends of the Class of 2014 and of the graduating students of Bryn Mawr’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research gathered on Merion Green on Saturday, May 17, to celebrate the achievements of the graduates.
We’ve gathered nearly 200 of our favorite photos from the day into this online gallery.
The 2014 Commencement Speaker was Terry Gross, host of NPR’s Fresh Air and one of the most trusted and respected voices in American media.
“I was proud to be invited to be your Commencement Speaker and even prouder not to have been dis-invited,” said Gross jokingly to open her remarks.
Listen to Gross’ complete address in the below video.
After Gross spoke, Bryn Mawr President Kim Cassidy addressed the graduates. In closing her remarks, Cassidy said:
“As you leave Bryn Mawr, I hope you do so confident that you possess the smarts, the grit, and the joy of discovery that will be your traveling companions on the journey ahead. You can be fairly confident that much of what you do will likely be easier than what you did here. Take this moment to be proud, be happy, and be grateful, and know that you will be amazing.
And also know that while Bryn Mawr may have transformed you, you have also transformed Bryn Mawr. We are forever a little bit different because you have been here.
Bryn Mawr will always be your place and we will always be here for you if you need a touchstone to remind you of excellence, of deep engagement of your minds and hearts ….and of joy in learning.
You have my very best wishes and heartfelt congratulations.”
