Owls Care Blog Chronicles Community Service

Owls Care, the community service initiative of the Bryn Mawr College Athletics Department, recently launched a blog to chronicle the efforts of each team to support local charitable organizations and causes.

The blog is edited by field hockey player Maddy Beckmann ’15 and field hockey and basketball player Holly Constants ’15 with the cooperation of representatives from each sport who contribute posts about the efforts of their respective team.

“Holly and I started the blog to collect stories from our athletes about their work to make the world a better place,” said Beckmann. “Bryn Mawr Athletics is extremely committed to helping others and the blog will offer us a place to reflect, learn and share our ideas with the larger Bryn Mawr community.”

Added Constants, “Bryn Mawr athletes are involved in many community service activities… we wanted to share these experiences with the community, and we are excited to expand on these activities and initiatives.”

Current posts cover the soccer team’s participation in the Relay for Life, the basketball team’s Owls Fight for a Cure game to raise money for local women who cannot afford breast cancer screenings, and the field hockey team partnerships with the USA Field Hockey FUNdamental Field Hockey Program and the Philadelphia-based Playworks organization.
