Student Tickets Now Available for Patti Smith Performance on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Goodhart Hall

Tickets are now available to Bryn Mawr students for the free performance at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Goodhart Hall by Hepburn Medalist Patti Smith.

Patti Smith is an American singer-songwriter, poet, and visual artist, who became a highly influential member of the New York City punk rock movement with her 1975 debut album Horses. Called the "Godmother of Punk," her work was a fusion of rock and poetry. Smith's most widely known song is "Because the Night," which was co-written with Bruce Springsteen and reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1978. In 2005, Patti Smith was named a Commandeur of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Minister of Culture, and in 2007, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. On November 17, 2010, she won the National Book Award for her memoir Just Kids. She is also a recipient of the 2011 Polar Music Prize.

You must use your brynmawr.edu email address to reserve your ticket; one ticket can be reserved per student.

Tickets can be picked up at the Conferences and Events Office (lower level of the Campus Center) beginning Tuesday, January 29. Tickets can be picked up between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. until Tuesday, February 5. College ID is required to pick up tickets.

If tickets are still available after Thursday, January 31, Haverford and Swarthmore students may reserve tickets through the form and pick them up at Conferences and Events. Tickets not picked up by Tuesday February 5 will be released. On the day of the performance, there will be no will-call window. Students may wait at the door for any unclaimed seats. Doors will open at 3 p.m.

The Book Shop will be selling copies of Smith's memoir Just Kids prior to the show at 3 p.m. Immediately after the show, Smith will sign books for a limited time.

Students are also welcome to purchase tickets online for the Katharine Hepburn Medal Ceremony and Celebration honoring Smith.
