The work of Professor and Chair of Anthropology Richard Davis was featured in a recent issue of Science, the magazine of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In an article titled “The Peopling of the Aleutians,” Davis is among the archaeologists cited in a summary of recent research into “one of humanity’s last great migrations,” the human settlement of the 2,000-kilometer Aleutian archipelago that stretches between northwestern North America and Asia. Davis, , an archaeologist who focuses on human adaptation to changing environments and the development of prehistoric technology in its social context, began excavating in the Aleutians in 1995.
